NATURE OF THE WORK

Facilities maintenance workers maintain residential, commercial and public buildings. They usually are responsible for the general appearance of these buildings as well as being responsible for the preventive maintenance and repairs to the various building systems, such as the electrical and plumbing systems.
This course of study includes general cleaning and housekeeping techniques and routines, furniture repairs, preventive maintenance, grounds care, and painting and finishing techniques.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES
Employment opportunities are available in many service and maintenance areas. Former students are now employed as carpenters, maintenance workers in schools, apartment buildings and hospitals, electricians, plumbers, general laborers, carpet installers and contractors.
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
A student who wants to enroll in this program should have a mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn.
